SideRail Privacy Policy
Effective October 5, 2026
TechNICKal LLC develops and supports SideRail. SideRail does not collect analytics, track you across apps or websites, or send your sidebar layouts or files to TechNICKal LLC. No SideRail account is required.
Information on your Mac
SideRail stores your preferences, sidebar layouts, shortcut names, file paths, and permission bookmarks locally in its app container. It checks running apps to show running indicators and respect your exclusions, and reads available app names and icons for the launcher. This information is used on your Mac and is not uploaded by SideRail.
Files and folders
You choose which files or folders SideRail may access through a macOS picker or a drag from Finder. Saved permissions are read-only security-scoped bookmarks. When you drop a file onto an app, SideRail asks macOS to open the file with that app. The receiving app's privacy practices apply. Removing a pinned item removes its bookmark from the saved layout. Uninstalling SideRail does not delete your original files.
Websites and Apple Shortcuts
Opening a website uses your browser. Running a shortcut uses Apple Shortcuts and the permissions granted to that shortcut. Those apps and websites may handle information according to their own policies. SideRail does not upload the shortcut's input or output to the developer.
Purchases
Apple processes SideRail Pro purchases through the App Store. SideRail uses verified StoreKit transactions to check your purchase status. The developer does not receive your payment card details from SideRail. Apple's privacy policy governs App Store transaction processing.
Feedback
Send Feedback opens a draft in your mail app. You decide whether to send it and what to include. If you send an email to nicholas@technickalapps.com, TechNICKal LLC receives your email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. Our email is provided through Google Workspace. We use correspondence to answer questions and troubleshoot SideRail, and retain it as needed for those purposes, security, and applicable legal obligations. You may ask that address to delete support correspondence; some records may need to be retained for legal or security reasons.
Support and privacy website
SideRail's support and privacy pages are at technickalapps.com. The website does not require an account and has no advertising, analytics scripts, or tracking cookies. Google Firebase Hosting serves the pages and may process standard request information, including IP addresses and request details, to deliver and secure the website. Google's handling of information is described at https://policies.google.com/privacy. SideRail does not automatically open these pages or send your local sidebar information to them.
Control and deletion
You can change settings, remove pinned items in Pro, or disable SideRail in macOS Login Items. To delete all locally saved SideRail information, quit SideRail and remove its app container using Finder. Contact nicholas@technickalapps.com if you need help. Removing SideRail does not cancel or refund an App Store purchase; manage purchase requests with Apple.
