SideRail for Mac
Screen-edge launcher · macOS 14 or later
Open apps, files, folders, websites, and Apple Shortcuts from a compact sidebar at your screen edge.
Move your pointer to the handle to reveal the sidebar. Click what you need, then move away to close it. Choose the left, right, top, or bottom edge and position the handle where it works for you.
Preparing for the Mac App Store
SideRail is being prepared for its first release. This page will link to the Mac App Store when it is available.
Launch with a number
Open the sidebar and press 1–9 to launch an item immediately. Assign your favorite items to specific numbers in Settings → Items, or use the default sidebar order. Number-key launching is included in both Free and Pro.
Use Control–Option–Command–Space to open the sidebar from the keyboard. Arrow keys and Return work too, and Escape closes it.
Start with SideRail Free
The free sidebar includes ten starter items: Screenshot, Mission Control, your default browser, Messages, Notes, Calendar, Mail, Calculator, Downloads, and Applications. Only installed apps are included.
- Choose any screen edge and adjust size and labels.
- Press Control–Option–Command–Space to open the sidebar, then use arrow keys and Return or 1–9 to launch an item.
- Drag documents from Finder onto an app shortcut to open them with that app.
- Hide the sidebar over full-screen apps and optionally open SideRail at login.
Customize with SideRail Pro
Pro is one permanent in-app purchase, with no subscription. The App Store shows the price in your local currency before purchase.
- Add your own apps, websites, files, folders, and Apple Shortcuts.
- Keep unlimited items and drag them to reorder.
- Switch between independent Personal and Work layouts.
- Follow the pointer between displays and hide over chosen apps.
- Add supplied Do Not Disturb, Dark Mode, and Lock Screen shortcuts through Apple’s import confirmation.
Purchase and Restore Purchases are available in Settings → SideRail Pro.
Built for macOS
SideRail runs in the background with no Dock icon. Open Settings from the menu bar. It uses native Liquid Glass on macOS 26 or later and a native material sidebar on earlier supported versions.
No SideRail account is required. Layouts and preferences stay on your Mac. SideRail includes no analytics or advertising, and file access uses read-only permission bookmarks for the locations you select.
